Way back in the year 2000, Danny worked with Mike Ratnett. Mike was another, slightly disturbed, individual on the Fine Art in Context course at Bower Ashton. As opposed to working with penguins, Mike, was working with lobsters (and why not). It goes to show that it helps to be a 'few prawns short of a cocktail' to have been on the course!
Danny eventually flew off to Chile to work with Mike Bingham of the International Penguin Conservation Work Group.

SubjectPaper Penguin Project

Hi,
My name's Guy Wooles and I'm an artist and designer. Ten years ago I set up the Paper Penguin Project but sadly it has lain dormant for a few years. It was designed to be a fun and interesting site, so I've decided to reinvigorate the site and get it going again. I am planning to provide educational and conservation information on the site as well as a page for penguin related worksheets for educational establishments as well as individuals. So if there's anything you think I should include on the site or you have any ideas please let me know.
I was also wondering if you would like to take part in the project by taking one of my penguins and documenting its experiences with you (I still haven't had one go to the South Pole yet!).
If this is the first you have heard of the Paper Penguin Project all the information can be found on the site for you to decide whether you want to link to it. I have added your link to my site and was also hoping that you might place my link on your site. If you don't think it appropriate this does not mean that I will remove your link.||

Thank you for your time||

Dear Guy

Thank you for your mail. Perhaps you could send me a paper penguin, and I
will send you news of our penguin research going on in southern Chile. I
assume I can send this info by email?

I would also be grateful if you could add our Adopt a Penguin web site,
which is the sole source of funding for our penguin research and protection
work in South America - Adopt a Penguin www.seabirds.org/adopt.htm

We also have a web site with general information on all penguins which might
interest you - www.penguins.cl

Regards, Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for getting back to me. I've added the links that you sent me to the Paper Penguins website.
If you'd like to send me your address I will ask the 'penguin boys and girls' who would like to go on a trip to the Falkland Islands. I can foresee a lot of feathers flying over this and a lot of disappointed paper penguins but I'm sure we can sort it out at this end without any lasting grudges!
Speak to you soon
Guy

Hi Mike,

It looks like Danny will be joining you on your adventures. After a grilling interview with tough questions he finally convinced me that he was the bird for the job.
I hope to wave him 'goodbye' very soon.

Cheers and many thanks

Guy

Hi Mike,
I waved off Danny last Thursday so he should be with you by the end of the
week. Ask him to let me know when he arrives safely, will you?
Cheers
Guy

Dear Guy

Danny wants me to let you know that he has arrived safely. In a couple of
weeks he will be accompanying me to the penguin colony at Cabo Virgenes in
Argentina. I will let you know how we get on and send you some photos.

Dear Guy

Danny has been on his first outing to meet the penguins at Cabo Virgenes in
Argentina, and he seemed to enjoy the experience, making lots of new
friends. I attach a few photos of his visit.

Regards, Mike
